since ive put on the new gianelli exhaust it starts and idles normally but as soon as i twist the throttly things go wrong...it just doesnt respond and it goes really slowly and makes a lot of noise too also to add things to it when i go full throttle it just stalls. PLZ HELP MEE its a fucking 09 plate and its doing this!!! all i have done is change the stock exhaust to a performance one and ive blocked the cat converter hole too.

Have you fitted the exhaust proper and tight with gasket etc?

If it's letting air out of there, huge loss in performance. (it's just like having a hole in your pipe)

the gasket is the bit which you screw into the engine right. if it is i think i should tightten it up a bit more because its more tight on one side

nah that,s not the gasket, the gasket it the mechanical seal (like a bit of paper) that fills the space between the two mating surfaces, to prevent leakage from or into the joined objects while under compression

Sometimes they dont. Im guessing yours didnt come with rollers either? They normally need to be lighter. Mine didn't come with gasket or rollers, so bought them seperately.

You do need the gasket seal though, but they're only a couple of quid tops. Try donotlink pedstop online...or if you have a shop near you nip down :)

the funny thing is that it did actually come with gianelli 5g rollers but i already have malossi 5.5g rollers inside .

    You all fail ¬.¬

Piaggios have a olive fitment aka no gasket needed. the advantages of the lovely design of italian engineering.

Its gonna be a problem besides the exhaust.
Airbox loose? would explain noise and the rough operation.

lol i thought so. i havent touched the airbox so i doubt its that however the cat converter box had a filter i took that off and sealed the hole with a bit of tape.

Regards that Olive design mounting face into the cyclinder this must be square when you tighten it down jsut do a couple of turns on each nut as you go to get a gas tight seal once its started to tighten just get em a little nip more and presto done but i allways do cyclinder nuts/ or bolts first the the rear system mount bolts after. As for your tape over cat take off ??? thats sound a little suspect cant you make a blank plate out of plastic and or alloy and cover it that way. The piaggio i just did had a plastic tube with a tie wrap type blank that worked a treat.
As you have vairator rollers in take it you,ve taken the spacer washer out of the variator too,
    . good luck.

    oh my fucking god....

its a sports pipe, you havent dropped the rooler weight, it wil do this exact thing. drop to 4.9g (gianelli reverse) or around 5.5 for a gianelli shot.

god damn people love to guess blindly at simple things

didnt even get to the last reply.. you havent changed the rollers (obvious from the last post) go get some, a slightly bigger jet (fuck it, a 60 will do) and fit them.. will work just fine. the plastic ring people talk about is a restrictor that sits between the pulley's on the crank (the variator and front pulley)

this is why anyone can be a mechanic but noit many people should tune bikes... any monkey can put a pipe on, it takes more than just throwing parts at an engine to make it faster and tbh you need to read up a little befor you touch your bike.. ether get the relevent manual wich shows roller fitment and a specific variator locker OR put the old pipe back on,m ether way, get reading.. this aint a car, it aint just "bolt shit on and it will go faster" it has MANUAL setup... meaning you touch anything and YOU hnave to MANUALLY change little parts to get the engine to run right.. befor you know how to do this you should only replace parts.. not upgrade them!

just to refresh everyones memory ;) when fitting a sports pipe you should also:

fit lighter rollers...tighter clutch springs...a small increase in main jet (2 or 3 sizes or 5%) also the idle mixture screw may need a little tweak :good:

fitting a sports pipe moves engine torque and power further up the power band resulting in a loss of power further down the power band...hense why the transmission has to be reset to compensate ;)
