When i use my Electric start it sort of jitters when i try to start it, I've been having problems lately starting my bike in the morning and keeping it idle, On Tuesday my bike just would not start most of the day and i could not make it to work, so i got the carb spray cleaner and took the air filter off and it did do it a hell of a good job, started alot better, and i changed the spark plug about two weeks ago and its full of watery oil, so i ordered two new spark plugs- a new sponge= air filer, and now the main question IM asking is about the electric start, could this be because the spark plug is oily still? i just checked my battery and it's at 13.10 volts, this is the battery off the bike reading, and last question, the battery is a platinum motorcycle CTX5L-BS battery, would this be 6v or 12 volts? and how long should i charge it for? and what is the avg volts a battery should be at?
Re: My speedfight 2 100cc electric start jitters apon start Battery voltage sounds fine (very good actually) its the amp power that defies how well it will crank the engine over. Another possible issue could be the starter relay ,dirty connections or corrosion will certainly cause poor starting. If you are going through a few spark plugs then its possible your top end is on its way out (piston and rings) or even the crank seals, might be as simple as a carburettor strip and clean, setting the screws back to factory as well as float height.
Re: My speedfight 2 100cc electric start jitters apon start Ah right thanks for replay, so worst case scenario piston rings? tell me if this is correct, if the carb is dirty = then the spark plug will get oily? i forgot to say when i always get a new spark plug in it starts ok with electric start, so maybe i just need to keep it clean yea?
Re: My speedfight 2 100cc electric start jitters apon start I advise to have a compression test done. A proper compression test with a gauge , not a thumb up the bum one.
Re: My speedfight 2 100cc electric start jitters apon start That or buy a compression tester . http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=compression+tester Some bargains there, wish i seen that before i spent 98 quid on mine
Re: My speedfight 2 100cc electric start jitters apon start How do you do the test i never done 1 before,
Re: My speedfight 2 100cc electric start jitters apon start Ah never mind just goes in the spark plug, seems easy enough
Re: My speedfight 2 100cc electric start jitters apon start Ok so today my bike would not start, as i had spark plugs coming in post i just waited to they came, i cleaned the carb and air filter (also waiting on new air filter coming) and put the new spark plug in, it started but it just seems a little bit slaggish, any ideas?
