Hello all this is my first post on this forum so here goes, I bought a piaggio nrg a couple of weeks ago from a guy who hadn't used it for a couple of months, the day that I got it the guy turned the engine on and it started up fine, so loaded it up and got it back to the workshop, then started the engine up and it started fine ob the stand, so decided to go for a quick spin and only got 10 seconds down the road for the engine to cut out on me. I didnt have any warning lights flash up on the lcd display or anything, now the spark plug is fine, oil is full, fuel is full, and battery is fully charged. When I try to start the engine it turns over but just wont start and I cant get it to start via the kickstart either, any ideas or advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

Might be some crap that got sucked into the fuel lines/carb, drain your carb, any crap will come out first

Thanks for the reply sub, the fuel seems to be getting through the fuel line from the tank to the engine fine.

And if it's been sat for couple of months there may be water in the fuel, so like i said drain the carb into a clean container and see what comes out first

It was the same story with mine, had it sitting a couple of weeks, fitted a 70's kit, it ran for about 10 seconds and cut out, wouldnt start.. Took it to the bike shop and we drained the carb, there was water and crap in the carb/fuel. Started after that

Yeah mines got a 70 kit on it too but he said he just had it sitting around in his garage for a few weeks and got a bit stuck as to what could be wrong with it after all the obvious things were checked, but I will def clean the carb out and hopefully that will be sorted.

Its a bit late (been busy with other things) but still no joy after taking the carb apart and giving it a spring clean, got it to fire up a cpl of times by kick starting it (as batt had almost died after trying to start over and over) but it couldnt stay on idle and it was spitting out fuel into the air filter :/ so im now looking to get a brand spanking new carb to sort it :)
