hopefully a quicky this one, i spotted in the haynes manual that when re-assembling the top end you need to clamp down the cylinder to determine the base gasket thickness. does anyone do this? or is it plainly obvious which gasket to use? or has this been superseeded?

thats right mate, just wondered if peeps bothered, i want to do a de-coke and clean up the ports so just wondering. seems a shame to turn a half hour job into a waiting for a new gasket game.
