I passed my test last month (1st attempt) and I'm now cruising around in my Candy White Ibiza. I've done a bit more to it now including a facelift bumper and sport interior, here's a few pics: View attachment 3941
It's only a 1.2, cos at 17 the insurance is crippling (£2250). I've just been offered a 1.8 turbo engine and box which will drop straight in, but the old man won't let me.
My Baby's mashed up now, a women in a Beetle overtook a car paked on her side of the road as I was already passing the parked car in front of it. I avoided a head on but hit a car parked on my side and the Beetle scraped my rear quarter. I was gutted , I had been passing a line of cars parked on my side for about 50 metres, the two cars parked on her side were opposite the last two on my side and there was not enough room for 2 cars to pass. It was my right of way , the obstruction was on her side of the road and I had already passed the first car on my right when she pulled right out in front of me. Now she's claiming that she was stationary and I hit her, yeah right. I took plenty of photos which clearly show that she was in the wrong. My car looks toast hers has a few scrapes, she should be thanking me for avoiding a head on not blaming me. Looks like it's time to dust off the Aerox.
damn matey, bad to hear. tbh id have gone with a head on, presume the parked car you hit will be claiming off your insurance, where as if youd have gone and only hit her, it would be her fault. no claim
This way no-one got injured except for my sore neck, but to make matters worse the old guy whose car I hit was really good about it. His 2006 Megane has only 1200 miles on the closk ( he does 4 miles a week).
Still waiting for the insurance to settle, luckily my insurers are backing me and putting the blame on the woman , photo's don't lie and I've got plenty to prove it. I need a car for work so yesterday I bought a white 2011 Suzuki Swift Sport which means I've got to sell the Aerox to help pay for it. I'm so made up with the Swift it goes well and drives like it's on rails. I'll put up some pics when I've got the chance. In the meantime my dad has resprayed the Aerox and turned it into a Rossi replica replica, it looks better than new and is running well so it should fetch a fair price.
Cheers mate, the only problem is that the insurance claim is not yet sorted, it could still go 50/50 but my insurers (Admiral) are fighting it. Hopefully I'll get full compensation for my car.
Mate How much did you pay for the ibiza ? and the insurance as well? Did you get it while you ware 17 ?
Did you put your parent in the insurance ? or fully on you ? what company did you use ? sorry for the questions mate
I put it on an Admiral multi car policy , it's in my name with my mum, dad and big brother as named drivers. It was the first car on the policy so it got a discount. My dad's car is the second car and even that was cheaper then the insurers he had been using. In fact it cost the same price to insure the 2 cars as it would have been to insure mine alone.
Actually I swapped my mountain bike for an 09 Aerox rossi rep with a knackered cylinder, Fixed for the price of a new piston (had a spare barrel) and sold it for £950. The mountain bike had cost about £550 , 3 years earlier. The day I sold the Aerox was the day the Ibiza was advertised, my Old man found it had a head gasket issue so that's why it was so cheap. Tha 17" alloys were of his Jag , the facelift bumper cost £25 cos it had a crack. I got a complete sports interior for £80 and the result was as seen in the photo. The Ibiza is still on my drive waiting for the insurance to be sorted. It can easily be repaired but the costs mwill make it beyond economical repair.
