Over the past year or so i have quite openly been voicing my opinions and thoughts of cyclists on the forum. Last week i was challenged by my learners to spend the next 30 days commuting by bicycle, Something i wasn`t very happy about doing but they insisted and said that if i did do it they would each put £1 into the charity pot in the office at the end of the 30 days. Today was my first commute by bicycle, A 20 mile round commute. Apart from riding my recumbent trike around the local park Ive not cycled properly since getting my first moped. So its fair to say that today cycling to work on the roads on a upright mountain bike with road tyres fitted (kindly borrowed to me by a colleague) was a big shock to my system and it actually opened up my eyes a bit. So here i am, Scootzmadness. Not being held hostage by a cyclist, Of my own accord. Sincerely apologizing for saying that all cyclists should be shot, for saying that any cyclist not ran over is a missed opportunity, Saying that all cyclists are scum and Saying anything along those lines. I have been a idiot.. Although i still hold my view that cyclists that scream and shout at other traffic for passing within a meter are still bell ends and need to calm the fuck down.
I hate it too - ive started shouting wanker at them. Those are the bell end cyclists, seem to be a few ok ones on my route into work though.
Respect to you for admitting it Scootz. I bet we've all been guilty in some way or other of slagging off someone/something we don't like/understand, or just plain know little about. There will always be the few di**heads in any group that give the rest a bad name, it's up to us all to see past them and not assume the rest are the same . . .
Only twenty three days left. May have to switch over to my recumbent trike though, Riding a upright bike is starting to ache my legs and back big time.
