    Hi,

Looking to do my direct access in April, but unsure what bike to get, im currently loving the GSX-R600 in Black!! But I think insurance would kill me (along with the price), can anyone recommend any alternatives? I would still be keeping a scooter for my commute :p

why ya want the horrible shape gsxr? get a k4/5 ;)

on my hornet 600 i got when iw as 18 i payed £1410 FC in south london, 1 years ncb and 1 accident to name. TPFT would have cost me about £900 and TPO would have cost me about £700.

    ;)

If you want a new bike, still wanna be sensible but still want a big bike, then go for an Suzuki Sv 650!

They are very cheap to buy (suzuki even do 0% finance deals),
    hold their value well,
    sound the nuts,
    can be modded easily,
    cheap to insure,
fast but not too fast (good stepping stone)

Only down side is the they're absolutely shite for stunting, the engines go bang at the sniff of a wheelie!

And before anyone says it, i don't have shares in Suzuki lol

Im debating, as I will probably scratch the hell out of it or whatever, so might be best to go second hand, then get a new bike in a year or so time? :D

i looked into the SM route, but tbh, the service intervals on things like ktms are mental, and they cost a fair bit more then like a naked 600, and there slow in comparison, not good for long distance aswell.

cant go wrong with a hornet bandit or sv try them see how they feel . Or a cb500 or er5 to use a couple of years untill you can get cheaper insurance
