Im looking to go for the a2 license and ditch the Baby plates and was just wondering if the theory for a bike is much different to a car one.. Got car license and that but insurance has your pants down and then bites your bollocks off. It's Rediculous! Any info on theory test for bikes would be appreciated and also what bikes are decent to have on this license. Cheers

its kinda sense. the highways code questions are similar. the bike questions are totally different though so a book will help

theres a few practise tests on the dsa website. i would practise for at least a week. i read a section a night over 14 days.

with a restricted license you can get a bigger ped upto 500cc or a 600cc motorbike and restrict it.

depends what you want to use it for. i have a full license and i have a vespa gts300 to go to work on. its fast enough for motorways too

The theory test is basically the same with a few questions specific to bike handling (how does a pillion affect it that kinda thing.) Although I did read the theory was changing along with the way the tests and entitlements to what you can ride but don't if or when these have been/will be brought into effect.

I done my theory 2 weeks ago as i heard it was changing (and it did on the 23rd Jan) the on-line tests are worth a practice run or 2 but the new theory test has been designed so that you cant learn the questions parrot fashioned and i dont think there are any of the 'new' test practices available

When I did it the questions are completely the same as in the official books just you have to answer a small selection of them so you need to learn all of them. I found that they generally gave you mostly the easiest questions.

As for the hazard perception that's something you can't completely learn but as long as you do a training test using a dvd or something like that you should be fine. If you have been riding on the road for a few years it should be easy anyway.

Thanks for the info guys, gunna do some online stuff and try find some hazard perception vids. Bin on the road for 2 and a bit years now and also have done car test like I said so shouldn't find it that different or difficult, hopefully. Lol.

Anyone know any decent books out there I can buy or is it all on dsa website and stuff? Want to get it done kinda quick if possible And hopefully get my license in the summertime.

    Cheers

You lots got me totally lost here with this lot.

When I took my test I had to ride around the block a couple of times, keep control at slow speeds and perform an emergency stop...then the fools gave me a licence to ride whatever I could afford to insure (RD350LC at the time) o_O
