Just saw on the news they want to make it the law to wear one of these devices that inflate when you come off your bike without disconnecting a lead...

Ok, perhaps it might hold your insides in place if you come off, but it's not going to protect your limbs or spine, as its just rolling across the road wearing a balloon.

I thought the CE approved body armour in most jackets was enough, I've came off with my jacket and I'm fine, I have a CE spineboard in my jacket.

But come on, sometimes I even forgot to take out my keys from my bike, I don't want to keep blowing up as a balloon when I forget to disconnect myself.

    Hopefully, this doesn't go through.

EDIT: It's only meant to be designed for your chest area, so your arms and legs are going to be moving in all directions whilst your chest remeans cmfoy, so your back breaking and neck risks are still going to be there.

It won't go through in the near future. like all the stories you read in mcn about speed limiters controlled by gps etc..

its scare-mongers who write this shit to try to deter motorcyclists from using the roads, because apparently we are all scum who shouldn't be allowed to have fun.

at the end of the day, if you come off your bike and impale yourself on a fencepost, an airbag isn't going to help. 99% of bikers killed in accidents die because of what they hit AFTER hitting the tarmac. I do agree that these airbag suits are a reasonably good idea, i just don't think they are practical, they need lots more development and the lanyard system they talk about is stupid too, like you say, you get off your bike and inflate, ammusing to passers-by buy totally annoying for bikers.

If they make it law i will be very suprised.

Yeah, I'm really hoping they don't to be honest, they should make more laws for car drivers to notice us instead of trying to make more things difficult for us.
