mot question?

    my frame numbers on my zip 50 are barely visible, taking it for an mot soon and im wondering if they will check.

    No, your bike can be stolen and they can mot it, they dont ask for your logbook, so how can they check the numbers anyway.. Its a vehical saftey examination, not a legitimate test.

    Every mot I've bothered to watch they have checked the frame numbers...

    They need the frame number to register the MOT on the VOSA computers.

    had this issue with a DT125, the mot tester will do his best to read it, if there is a mistake then the DVLA will be in contact. best to take your v5 with you to prove the numbers.

    i remember a friend taking his and his numbers came up as a totally different bike all because the tester mis-read a digit.

    they always read the digits on the machine...be it a bike or a car and even if the old test certificate is present.
    Spose it depends on WHY its not very clear...if its due to rust, you could sand it over with fine sand paper to highlight the original numbers and then repaint it with a thin layer of paint to make it stand out

    After 2001 it must have a readable VIN plate, it doesnt need to be brilliant, and can be restamped, or on a metal plate rivetted to the frame...

    Before 2001 it doesnt need to have to have a VIN.
