Hi, I am new to the scooter world and would really appreciate some advice.

I've just purchased a Honda lead 100cc and it has bad corrosion on the front forks (see pic).

I think i already know the answer to this but I want to check anyway, is this a mot failure?

    Many thanks

Yes that would be a failure.
Its clearly a safety issue. Second hand forks can be found cheaply on eBay. Wouldn't even ride with those forks.

yes and no, you maybe able to use the top and bottom head race ( when you turn handle bars does it seem to be nice and free rotation or does it stick a bit near the center , if there any forwards and backwards movement, if so the top and bottom race will need replacing to )

Get your hands on a Haynes manual. Worth the £15.
Take your time and follow the manual, Can't go very wrong really. Take alot of photos. Get a few sheets of paper and sticky tape any screws/nuts/bolts down noting where they came from and in what order so that you know where they came from. From experience - Just put new races in, Your there, You may as well spend the extra few quid and get it done so you dont have to go back a 2nd time to do that in the future.

yes manual is great for fixing sccot, also the video above is not just one bike all bikes if they have forks will have a headrace, watch the video he shows you whats involved and how to do it with minimal tools, no special pullers and likes just screwdrivers / spanners and plenty of grease.

No worrys about the help and advice , and welcome to the scooter shack to :)
