I exspect like me you have up rated your old mobil phone over the years ,while looking for something I came across one of these old phones with 12 volt charger ,what a waste of a phone I thought why not make use of it ,so I went to 03 shop and bought a ten pound sim ,no more to pay until the ten pounds run out, put a few numbers into it break down my phone and a couple of useful numbers charged it up and put it under the seat of the bike ,got a another one now so will do the same in the car, I will be ready the next time I break down and find I have left my phone at home [
Even worse is a dead battery! I've been putting 12v cigarette lighter plugs on my last few bikes (mostly for car chargers but there's a lot you can do with them if you look about) and its deffo come in handy. You'd think it'd be more popular on bikes nowadays with all the smartphones/gadgets and their terrible batteries
it don't tke long to fit a 12 volt socket from the battery to fit under the seat, and as you point out its so useful I have pumped my tyres up using a cheap electric pump or a lead light to see at night, no good if the battery goes flat tho
