yo i have a query regarding mirrors no i know they are needed for mot however i have read that you can actually get a £30 fine for not having any which seems odd i want to know who has mirrors fitted but if not have you been stopped for not having any?
I have been driving for long years on my scooter and i have no mirrors, i have fitted and removed, the only reason i put the mirrors is because at night in UK you have to have the right mirror or both you can not have the left side and not the right side. You wont get a fined at first if the police stops you at night with no mirrors they will just tell you that is dangerous to drive without mirrors but law in UK says any motorbike does not need to have mirrors, they come with mirrors for safety. Also i have a friend that i fitted his right mirror because he is used to have one mirror but he only had on his left so i removed the left and fitted on the right and when he had no mirrors in town the police told him that he has to have mirrors from 9pm. No legal requirement to have either indicators or mirrors. Infact except a brake light there is no legal requirement for lights either. However you will be restricted to daylight hours only then.
if you ride correctly you're better off NOT having mirrors as it learns you to check over your shoulder which makes sure your blind spot is clear. I've never had mirrors til I got the EXUP...which looks odd without them. I've also left them on so I can see how far back the flash blue lights are ...not that they stand much of a chance if I nailed it
there NOT need for MOT, and you cant be fined as there NOT need for mot mirrors are always the first thing to come off my bike. dont trust a mirrors used your eyes and look at the blind spots
mate the only bike i had mirrors on was my 10 plate aerox well they came of after one week anyway just kept on hitting vans and lories mirrors with mine loool i can give you 100% that u dont need them for mot as i have passed like 8 times on different bikes in different mot stations without them i have been pulled over few times and only once they told me that i should put some mirrors on they said that its their advice to do it which means i can ignore it and dont give a dam about it ... also i found it better to ride with no mirrors and when i had them on i got used to them and kept on forgeting to check my blind spot now when i dont have them i have to do it and it became a good habit now
then in future dont listen to what silly ppl tell you , if you know a part is not need for an mot then you know its not need for road use so how can you receive a fine for not having them fitted
i got fined £30 for my lights being too dark but they didnt mention anything about mirrors it was 23:24
Well if you done the CBT Test they will tell you only in day light even my mate was told by cops. Yes you will get fined if you using dark lights.
well obviously ive done the CBT test i was just saying that i got pulled over and they didnt mention anything about mirrors thats all
i wouldnt want to ride without mirrors, i like knowing whats behind me! i check em every like 10 seconds if not less. i always look behind me before changing lanes or ote though
i have nearly killed myself more times with mirrors due to as someone said not checking over the shoulder just a quick glance but without them i check lots especially after getting fined
so what your saying is every 10 seconds you take your eyes of the road? YEP sounds super safe you dont need to worry about the stuff behind you unless your changing lanes or turning right.
