Hi all, Rebuilding my 06 Yamaha Jog LC as a bit of a project. I purchased a set of PM Tuning crank seals + race bearings: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140719151021?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 The left (transmission side) crank seal wasn't very tight to push in. After finishing the engine and taking it for a blast down the road I noticed the belt started to slip. I removed the cover, sprayed everything with brake cleaner and tried again. It was fine for a second and the slipping started again. I remembered the lose-fitting crank seal and removed the variator to find that it had actually popped out of place and was letting mixture into the transmission. My question is, should there be a circlip that keeps the seal in place? I've looked all over the internet and cannot seem to find anywhere that sells them. Thing is, there wasn't one there when I removed the seal, I'm wondering if they forgot to fit it when rebuilding it previously? Where can I buy a clip or is it just these seals that are sh*te? Cheers guys
Did your case have oil in it? Also when the seals had gone did it lose alot of power? I ave just got some for my ped as its leaking oil all in the casing
Hi mate, Yeah the transmission case had oil in it, not much though, just enough to make the belt slip. I literally opened the throttle twice, on the second wind on the belt slipped and it felt really lean. Knew to look at the seal as it was pushed all the way in but it felt far too easy to do so! Anyone know where I might be able to buy a clip? Messaged the eBay seller and he suggested using chemical metal to keep the seal in ! Don't fancy doing that to be honest!
