Does anyone have any suggestions on how to shift the tarnishing on this rear rack? I'm not sure what it is but it looks like aluminium, but maybe just polished steel, either way I've had a go with that auto sol metal polish stuff and it's not even touched it. Not much you can do Andy abiet get the polisher out and polish it down to bare metal. i would just autosol it, the treat it to a coat of body wax when your giving the main body work a wax coat . patina is nice it shows age and goes with the age of the scooter. a brand new shiney rack just screams possible replacement
Soak it in a weak solution of Citric Acid. That will etch away the oxidation. Then metal polish and clear-coat lacquer it, to prevent it from tarnishing again.
