As of late... the ped seems to vibrate quite hard when really wound up in the speed department.

It's like a growling / holwing noise that increasesd with road speed...

I don't think it's engine speed related, as it only does it at what I would say is a pretty fast road speed (don't know the speed, as speedo has never worked, lol)

Something keeps telling me that maybe its the side stand thats been fitted, causing drag underneath the ped with the wind (I could be very wrong with this also).

After really motoring along & then comming to a standstill, the ped is very lump & close the wanting to stall with the whole ped vibrating. I blip the throttle a little & the eexhaust note has a slight growl to it, but the vibration smooths out (a little).

I'm quite concearned what this could be & would like to remedy it, before it's too late!

The ped is my only mode of transport these days & I use it for a 50mile round trip commute to work.

Any idea's what it could be, or where I should start my investigations...?

Could be engine mount, Or something inside the engine. Are you using a standard crank o_O

it has nothing to do with the side stand at all

id say if its vibrating at standstill, it would be engine related

could be engine mount like suggested but hard to say without riding or seeing the bike
i can remember having fooked engine mounts, it never vibrated but the back end felt all over the place when riding at speeds above 30mph..

i would wait for a reply for guns, that guy it on point everytime, a strong asset to this forum if you ask me....

what is the mileage, what was the mileage, when the kit went on.??

you don't mention an uprated crank, change of main bearings, with the kit??

I have been reading some of Guns advice & he does indeed seem like a genuine top knowledgeable bloke. An asset, yes I would agree :)

The mileage is reading approx 7100 miles (2001 MBK Ovetto 50). According to the peds last MOT, the mileage also was approx 7100 (10 months ago).
The crank is standard & no bearing have been changed. All that was installed was the Italkit 70 & anything that came with it.
I have managed to source a spare engine, so ideally would like to make the spare engine into a nice reliable unit & also fit the Italkit to it, when it's all finished & ready to swap out with the current engine.
I need to use the ped everyday, so I'm sure you can see my dilema.
Want to go faster, but need to be reliable at the same time (catch 22 I'm sure...)

The Italkit has been on now for approx 500-700miles I would say (few weeks)

so, as a MOT doesn't require a working speedo, really you have no idea what the mileage is. That pipe is a high revving pipe, most likely the bottom end is on its way out, crank and main bearings. As said in another post, if it is wear, look for excessive lateral play on the crank, with the variator off.

Check the gear-box oil, as could be several issues contributing to this.

I wouldn't run anything more than a sport on a standard crank. It's like puting a evo engine in a vaxhall corsa tbh :/

What would you class the Italkit 70 alu as... Sport, Midrace, etc?

Thanks for your advice GUNS, I'll set too a little later today & check for lateral play...

As I have this other engine I would like to build up... would you suggest I get a new crank, or just get all new bearings for it?

If I was to just change the bearings, would these be a good option...

If I as to get the below crank, then would the above bearings also be a good choice?

I have been thinking about this crank, but don't really want to spend the £££...

It would be easier to just post the pedparts links, Personally i'd go for stage 6 hpc crank and skf race bearings

I removed the variator & checked for any play in the end of the crank. I can't feel any play when trying to move it laterally.

Also, I checked the gearbox shaft for any play... none.

Popped the windy gun on one of the engine mounts (same side as CVT), as was working on that side.

I've not been any further than up & down the road to test out a different clutch I put on from the other engine, so can't say anymore really right now.

Been out on the ped earlier (with the different clutch, springs, contra spring)

Can't say its making the vibration noise now, but my combination of clutch, springs, contra spring was apoor choice... The ped would rev up, then as you hear the power / speed go from the front to the rear, it just sat there & wouldnt pull more than approx 20-25mph (guessing, as no speedo).

I'll take it out again tomorrow & get some speed up, see if it starts to vibrate again o_O

Just been for a quick blast to Asda & got the ped wound up on the way back...

The rumbling / growling started to happen again, but as I got onto my driveway, the ped wasnt doing it's usual vibration trick. I wonder if me tightening one of the studs on the engine mount has made a difference  (I don't know if it was loose in the first place, just popped the impact gun on it earlier today).
