Okay, i bought an Aerox/Nitro earlier for 200 pound, that apparently had broken reeds, my friend thought the carb was fucked, so we put a different 21mm Dellorto carb on, and after a while of kicking it started. it started then idled for about 10 seconds then cut again. apparently its 70 kitted, but im not sure about that, also, this is what we have done to it, in timely order. Took the seat and fairings off undid the fuel line and vacuum line from the carb, then removed the carb, but left the liquid cooling pipes leading to it. then we put a 21mm delorto carb on and connected the manual choke, and the fuel/vacuum lines, and gave it a kick, started but only idled for 10 seconds. we then took the plug out, and it was very wet. there was then a bit of smoke coming out of the head when there was no plug in it. can someone please explain what i should do as im very confused! any help would be appreciated thanks
No, two of the bolts that hold the reed > carb manifold is rounded, if i drill the tops off would it be okay to run it with 2 bolts in? instead of 4? or could this severely affect the performance. i have spare reeds, but they are dirty, ill give em a clean later on. do you think it could be the reeds? thanks
Just cut a slit in them and remove with a flat head. Worth looking at before wondering about anything else.
Okay thanks, there is already a slit in them, but i cant move them, they are well and truly stuck, also, once i get the reed block out, what should i look for in the reeds? snapped reeds or what? im not sure about reeds thanks
yeah nathan is right if that was the problem why try running it and running the risk of fucking the engine , you probably have the wrong setting on the carb , and if they are standard reeds then running a 70 kit on them will probably snap them i suggest getting some polini carbon reeds as even with a 50 the reeds are known to snap on aerox's ( mbk nitro )
Okay thanks, ive come across a problem whilst taking the carb manifold off, 2 of the bolts were rounded so i cut grooves in them to take out with a flathead, but no joy they are ver stuck, should i just drill them out?
Okay thanks guys, ive done it now, i used a titanium carbide drill bit, and then drilled the heads off and unscrewed the thread with a pliers. thank you so much
