Well he hasn't had much luck with his bike. He was on the way to work and it just cut out and had to get it recovered.

I personally haven't had a look but there was no coolant present and the kickstart is really stiff, so I'm guessing the kit may of had it?

A shop quoted him £600 in parts and £200-300 labour tops. I was like tell them to do one, you can buy a mint runner for that or a new engine for £200.

From what I have said what do you think needs replacing?

    Kit?
    Kit and crank, rebuild time?

    Or shall he:

Sell the bike and get another?
Buy another engine and get it fitted?

    Help himmmmmmmm :beg:

    Ah right thanks.

Well me or him haven't got the time to do it and he needs it on the road asap. He has got the option of taking it to a local shop, they said they can tell him the problem for £40 (Engine out etc) which I didn't think was bad then get a 172 kit.

If I was him I'd get it looked at then the 172. I think 1 shop quoted near a grand and the 125 cylinder kit was like £330ish.

m8, take ehwat the bikes worth, minus the work it needs done and buy it off him... ill do you a nice deal on a rebuild.

FUCK that for a labour charge.. you can pull an engine.. grab a kit waterpump and mains an bring the lump over.

I'd rather flog it for whatever he can get, add a few hundred on top of that. Buy another bike just try to make sure the new one is actually going to be OK and not a pile of shit XD :good:

no if its is rebuild then it will be better and more reliable than if he buys a new bike ,hence rebuld new parts

Well the issue with him is time and no knowledge.

He was thinking of selling the bike for say £400 then buying another for £1000 tops. Rather than pay silly amounts to get fixed.

I think it would cost him:

172 kit (250 retail in shops)
Fitting (150 maybe? this is a shop we are talking about)

So maybe 400 quid, he could get a minter for £1000.

His bike is filthy, needs new forks and now a new cylinder possibly more. I'd possibly buy it if he wanted to get rid.

Haven't spoke to him lately, so not sure what he has done yet. Will let people know, I'd expect there would be a lot of interest in it.
