    Hello,
I need more power on my Honda SH125 but want to keep the bike.
Use it for road with occasional traffic light racing and overtaking.
Can you please comment on how long in miles Malossi cylinders last?
    What are oil change intervals?
What is Malossi reliability compared to stock (Honda) cylinder?
Please share your experience / knowledge. Thank you!

What I have personally expierenced is, if you buying everything brand new, treat it well, it'll treat you well. If you're only going to be doing the 'occasional' traffic light racing and overtaking it should last you quite long.

My opinion would also be that Malossi is probably/is the best aftermarket brand for cylinder kits.

How long? How many miles roughly? I read they usially fail after 3000-4000 miles, is this normal?

That sort of mileage quote is for a high end 2 stroke small cc cylinder kit. For a big cc 4 stroke kit it's rubbish.

You would expect a similar life out of it as a stock Honda cylinder. It will be made out of better quality materials and with more precision.

Malossi don't quote any sort of change in the oil change intervals. I would always change it more regularly than manufactures quote anyway.

Thanks, tErr0. It makes sense what you wrote. Yeah I change oil more often anyway, maybe will go a grade higher with Malossi too (5W30 or 0w30).
Btw RESPECT for your scoot! How is it going?

You won't see a huge gain from just a cylinder kit though. Normally takes quite a bit more on a 4 stroke.

I spend most of my time riding around on a vespa et4! So it doesn't get much use.

the cylinder is not usually the reason 4 strokes make fuck all power.... stock is usually best (biggest stock of course, so 190 ac or 200 wc for gilera/piaggio engines) the head exhaust and cam usually kill all performance of a 4t... fact is speed = fuel consumption.. these bikes are designed to use as little fuel as possible, tunning is the complete opposit. banging a big bore kit on a 4t will not usually get you anything correcting the "efficencey" mods on most scoots will get. as in, do what needs doing first. unless your bike is a small bore big engine (like the runner 4t wich are 200 engines wiht smaller cylinders to make them 125) then leave the cylinder as is and tune around your engine... the last thing to do in the quest for power is up the cc (unless the cylinder is undersized or blatently below quality as stock)

Pull it out and enter the two stroke
Unless your going to use forced induction its always going to be a mule
