If this has already been covered then delete this thread Admin.
Searched but could not find anything that answers my questions.

Well basically, is it a good idea to get a Unlimited CDI unit?
Or will I just blow my kit to fuck? I always top my ped up with Castrol Super TT.
I do not have a clue how many miles the crank or kit has done.

if your bike blows after installing a cdi it would have blown up anyway.. cdi is always a good aftermarket part altho i doubt your seing any kind of rpm that warrents having one..

So best bet is give it a miss, and buy something worth while??
Also a mate of mine has a load of parts he is selling cheap.
He has a Airsal bore kit, its a 80cc apparently (he says) Don't know if it is. But it has done around 30 genuine miles then his stator went. Would it be worth putting it on mine? And he has a Malossi crank to go with it as well. And he said I can have it really really cheap. He can fit it all as well in the price.

if you trust the guy an the parts are cheap go for it.. ask youself one thing tho.
if the guy can rebuild an engine how comes the stator went and the engine is still sitting there?

Went round his yesterday to get a brake lever as some one reversed into my ped

And his garage has about 4 peds in there. 3 old shape SR's, two 50's and a 125 and a aerox.
He is doing his driving test pretty soon and is selling all of the parts as he thinks he would get more money for it that way ;)
So I'm gonna see how much he wants for it. And he has a 17mm carb and some Malossi reeds which are brand new as well :punk:

Edit: Oh and he has a unlimited CDI as well ;) and he said he would give me some 4.7 rollers as well

Well I went round my friends house again today.
Had a look through all of his parts.
Im gonna swap engines with him and get a new stator coil for it.
And some money going his way. He showed me what it done to the shaft that the variator sits on and it has a clean snap on the crank end and the belt was shreaded to fuck.
And he gave me a newish reed block with Malossi petals on it :pimp:
So I'm gonna fit that on.
But back to the point of the thread. He has a Malossi CDI some where and he is going to dig it out. But he gave me a CDI off a old shape SR with the piaggio lump in and said that the CDI has had the limiter taken out of it (wire cut)??? Don't know if it actually works but in the socket, the top row of 3 pins are there and on the bottom row the middle pin is missing.
So was wondering if it actually works Minor?

Edit: Photo of reeds (Sorry about the poor quality. Lost my Sony Ericcson)

i heard this said somewhere on the forum but a malossi cdi or unlimited cdi will only work better with more highly tuned engines...a unlimited/malossi cdi will only make your engine rev better/freely

will only see a major differece if your bike revs more than the maximum your limited cdi does....

for example say you have a cdi limited to 60 rpm and your bike only revs 50rpm there wouldnt be much point of getting a unlimited cdi unless your bike goes ove 60rpm ;)

unless you want one just for the record and to tick it off your wish list LOL

A lot of the high quality unlimited CDI"s have a revised ignition advance curve in them, which suits piped up and kitted engines better ;)

so not only could you gain unlimited revs, but better midrange power and economy too :D

Well I am getting it for free, So is it worth it??
Also I put the new reeds in today... To find that it already had malossi reeds... I have no idea what the people before me had done to this bike, but they have obviously spent a bit of money on it. :D

top row of 3 pins?? wtf? a piggy 50 cdi has a ht slot and a 4 pin connector.. take a pic, never once heard of a derestricted piggy cdi, its the curve that sucks. also i doubt you will be hitting the limit so the malossi curve will make a diff, the supposedly derestricted supposedly piaggio cdi is prittymuch as good as stock (wich i recon it is)
