Hi, Im new to the forum. I fitted a Malossi 25mm Dellorto carb to my typhoon 125 with a flip up choke and a PM tuning manifold. Now it wont start. I believe i have checked obvious things such as makig sure there are tight seals between the manifold to the reedblock/crank case, and between the carb and the manifold. Is there something else i should be doing. I can do basic repairs and have good tools and stuff, any ideas?
.A are you getting fuel to the carb ?.B it is really hard to get wrong can you smell fuel when turning it over ? is the ht lead still on retrace your steps and see whats missing steve
I am going to try and obtain a new spark plug cap and plug because in my frustration i broke the cap. Thank you steve will let y'all know tomorrow, can it be anywhere else. I am getting petrol to the carb and i replaced the fuel tap and fuel lines and put a fuel filter on before this. It ran fine before that
make sure fuels getting to the plug. get that new cap and check your spark if you still have problems check the idel mix and then come back if it still isnt right.
this may sound silly but are there jets in the carb lol and defo a new cap may be arcing on to he frame steve
changed the plug and cap and still turning over and not firing up! there is definitely fuel getting to the carb. Jet that is included is a 82 main jet which should at least start it even if it runs rough, any further ideas???
from my 50/70cc days i seem to remember the float bowl should be full of petrol and it was totally dry. I have topped up with petrol and taken off the fuel line from the tap to the carb and it isnt leaking out so it isnt getting any petrol. am i missing something?
suck on your vacume hose and petrol should come through and then prime your carb. alot of people forget this. oh and if fuel doesnt come through your taps fucked i useually swap these out for a free flowing jobby normaly the oil tap from the oil tank does the trick.
i sucked on the vac hose and fuel came through. How do i prime the carb though? I replaced the fuel tap about 20mi ago and it was running fine beforehand on the old standard Mikuni carb
i think he means leave the fuel pipe connected to the carb then suck on the vac hose to fill the carb with fuel. soon as youve filled the carb with fuel connect the vac pipe back onto the carb and hopefully start the bike
its done!!! hahahaha!! Thanks for your help Jordan Andy and Steve. I spend a lot of time (that i should have been sleeping as i am on nightshifts) looking at other posts and i managed try another trick posted by Minor: prime the carb (take the black pipe off the carb and suck for a few seconds) then set the idle mix 1 turn out from fully in.. now wind the idle all the way in then out 3 full turns. increase the idle speed inwards untill it starts. remember the choke as they start a hell of alot easier with the choke on for the first few kicks Its overevving now but i can sort that wont be an issue Thanks again
