Just pulled the carb apart on a aprilia habana 50cc. It's got a size 80 main jet does this sound right for standard? as I need to re jet for 70cc kit. Thanks
I dunno mate, as the only Aprilia Mojito/Habana manual I can find doesn't tell you the size of the jets - it just says that it's a 17mm Keihin carb. One of the lads where I work seized his Mojito recently and he should be bringing the bike into work for me to strip the top end and repair it. I'll let you know when I take it apart.
Just had a little net recce - there is a (Aprilia Habana-Mojito Owners Forum UK),exclusively devoted to your 'ped.mk.
Thanks guys for the advice, i ordered myself a jet set for it. Going to run it in on the standard carb then upgrade to a nice 17.5/19mm once I know the engine is sound
Make sure that you check the oil pump adjustment - it needs to be set at idle by lining the marks up. It wouldn't hurt to turn it up a tad.
According to the manual, there's a small belt behind the Variator that drives the oil pump. The manual is here:- http://scootercommunity.com.au/files/folders/aprilia/default.aspx I am aware that two types of engine were fitted to Habanas/Mojitos. One was a unit built by Suzuki Morini France and was also fitted to the AY50 Katana, the other was a Piaggio unit, presumably the one fitted to NRG or Runner models.
It's fitted with a morini engine, the pump is driven by a nylon shaft straight off the crank. I've pulled the pump off, cleaned it out, reassembled and primed it ready for first run. I'll just run it on premix to compensate, what would you suggest? 50:1 premix along side the pump?
Yeah, 50:1 should cut it, with a one size larger jet in the carb. The Suzuki Morini (thanks for the Morini reminder, I had forgotten that) is the more reliable of the two engines. The Piaggio one has a belt-driven oil pump that is cable controlled and the belts are a pain for slipping off or snapping.
Yeah, it's always best to start off rich as that won't seize it. It may bog down or lack performance, but it won't seize, that's the important thing.
