Hi guys, one of my main bearings decided to shatter the other day so im looking for really good replacement suggestions, metal cage, plastic cage, hybrid ceramic etc.

The bike is a '99 Malaguti Phantom F12 AC will be running a Stage6 Sport Pro MkII 70cc barrel, doppler 12mm crank, currently with a 19mm del'orto carb, sport filter, unknown reed block, sport6 pro variator on 5.5g rollers, standard clutch with black stage6 pro contra spring, stage6 needle roller transmission cover and +10% gear up secondary. The current exhaust is a de-restricted unknown type but i will be eventually using a de-restricted Yasuni City C16 exhaust.

So im guessing its going to be putting out ~15bhp and 9-10k rpm, its going to be held WOT for most of the time, so it needs strong long-life bearings.

also, im going to look at the feasibility of adding water cooling to the bike to try and increase the life of the top end.

its the conservative estimate that yasuni and speed6 gave me, i based myself on that...i feel like you were taking the piss?

ive got a 400 road bike, a zxr400 race bike and a 145bhp 89' fzr1000, i perform full engine rebuilds on a daily basis and hand make full electrical looms to customers specifications, if you want to say something please say it, the internetz doesnt convey humour/sarcasm too well.

this is my first scooter and my first ever two stroke so im learning by doing, i would appreciate an honest answer from you and a bit more details, are we talking C4 or C3 bearings, what bearing cages would you suggest? The bike has already destroyed one set of bearings, i dont want it to eat another.

I have run c3 clearance bearings with teflon cages with great success on tuned scoots

cant really remember which ones are what, but i know you can buy custom bearings from SKF, needle roller bearings would do great i should imagine. sorry if my post came off a bit harsh, just dont see a 70 putting out 15 hp is all. unless you do some serious blueprinting and porting work? look forward to seeing some vids of the finished thing. will it be a total sleeper? that would be ace! for what its worth, i work for a main dealer and build drag cars....

just read your previous post, plastic bearing cage? i wonder if that was fitted from the factory? ive never seen a plastic cage on a minerelli before!

yup, definitely plastic cage in steel cases with steel balls bearings.

ill measure up the existing bearing and give skf a call.

the current fairings are fairly battered and covered in orange paint and stickers of spiders (not my design). once the engine is running properly i might look to do some styling mods and get a new set of fairing plastics.

A 70cc can easily put out 15hp with the right parts. My Malossi MHR Team kit is rated for 22hp @13.600RPM while using a 19mm carb to conform to Italian racing specifications
