Evening peeps Let me give you a bit of background. I picked up a Peugeot Speedfight 2 100 from ebay. Lovely looking bike. But as it was my first bike, i didnt actually know what I was doing or should be looking for. So i entrusted the help of my friend's husband who used to repair motorbikes (not scooters). He gave it a quick once over and said it looks fairly good. We had it delivered to his house where it sat for a couple of weeks. I then did my CBT. I finally picked it up and bought it home. Drove it a couple of times over the weekends and found a little niggle with it not accelerating properly. I didnt want to take the risk on the road, so someone suggested that i need new belt and rollers. Which i started doing. But changed them and still had the same problem. :banghead: So decided it was time to sell it......which i've just done  So now, time to find something reliable (thats my main criteria) I've been trying to research as much as possible. Looking at direct bikes which has now been rules out, Piaggio seems to be a reliable make along with a Honda Lead. Suggestions?
get something with a piaggio engine like a zip that would be a real nice first bike and they can be bought at reasonable prices easy to fix aswell peugeots are SHIT
Is the honda lead 110 any good or you just wouldnt recommend it for a reliable/first bike? I have been reading reviews and it seems good and with the 0%apr at the moment, seems even better. Time to research the Zip Are we talking the 50 or the 100?
Hi guys I've just had a quick look at the zip and looked at some reviews and they aren't too favourable. Now im in a dilemma!!
Tbh it depends on the way any bikes been kept, ive had my speedf 2 100cc for 2 years and ive kept cleaning the carb every 2 weeks and it runs great, ive never had any probs really with it just letting ya know, i also had a aprilla sr50 and the engine seized on it cause i didnt put oil init, so just really depends if u get a good bike , make sure u keep it in good nick
What kind of things should I be doing regularly to keep it in good nick. Servicing of which componets? I'm assuming this would be the same for the majority of the bigger brand scooters, not chinese imports. I'm sourcing a Zip. The cheapest i can find it for is £1299. I'm in Greenwich so somewhere local would be ideal incase i need to return it for any reason. Do you or would you still negotiate like you would with a car dealer?
zips are nice bikes personally i would get the 50 2 stroke i dont know much about the 4 strokes main things to maintain would be good break and throttle cables, brakes pad, use good 2 stroke and make sure wheels always have a good tread zips are really nice bike and i would definately recomend them
Is there areason the ZiPs only come with the left hand mirror. I just think that's dangerous for me. Would it be logical for me to ask for a righthand mirror?
Just a quick update on my new purchase. Someone has offered me a Piaggio Zip 50 2T, 6000mls, black etc for £625 but without an MOT. Is it worth a gamble?
You can pick them up cheaper than that. Zips are £1000 new. http://www.gumtree.com/london/57/74790857.html http://www.gumtree.com/london/57/75118557.html http://www.gumtree.com/london/11/75020611.html
