Hi Guys, I know I am very limited with what I can get for my LX, the only two that are easily available are the gainelli smile and the laser pro original stainless steel. which one do you reckon is better, the gianelli or the laser? i'd like to get the laser one as the gianelli smile that i have at the moment rusts so quickly, particually the stretch where it joins the cylinder, i've stripped it down a couple of times and put plenty of high temp paint on, but it only takes a month or so before its rusty again. do you think the laser will have the same collar type restriction in it? do you reckon the laser x-pro would fit? edit: was just looking on ebay and some people are flogging leo vince TT's andreckon they'll fit on lx's, do you think they will? thanks guys
yes the tt does fit and they arnt that bad... better than the zx contrary to popular belife. lower power wich suites the torquey iron 70 kit. if rust is a real issue where you descrive id sudgest wrapping the pipe. it lasts forever and if done right looks lovely
the end can is the restriction, the baffel tube itself is undersized.. exhaust wrapping is used on alot of older cars where pipes/manifolds arnt redily avalable. its basicly a heatproof cloth you wrap the pipe in and it stops it rusting (helps with thermo efficentcey too)
ive got manifold wrap on my 4branch on the capri Helps cut down on under bonnet temperature, and also keeping the heat inside the pipe helps with cylinder scavenging....also ive found it stops my clutch cable from getting fried
yes you can buy bigger end cans....a lot of the cans use a universal bolt pattern just have a scout round the web sites...like scooter attack e.t.c!!
Issit ok to put a laser x pro endcan from the exhaust for a speedfight on to the leovince tt for a runner with a polini bore as im supposed to have a bigger silencer?
its a case of is the bolt pattern the same...if it bolts on ok it fits the only thing is some people might not advise swopping end cans because it can up set the tuned length of the pipe....but i think it should be ok. I know of a few people who have put different end cans onto expansion chambers without anything disasterous happening!! if its a worry try to pick an end can roughly the same length as the original one
hi mate, i've not got the pipe yet, will see how it goes with just the collar taken out of the front first..... am thinking of putting a 125 engine in it
ok, slight difficulties fitting the TT, it went on fine, had to hack away a load of plastic as it was fouling and banging on the trim and part of the mud guard holder. now when you go over bumps it bangs on the steel frame / body. is there anything i can do about this, it goes so much better now! would i need stiffer suspension or a high jacker I might have to get someone to cut the end off and re-position the end can some how? not the neatet job, but just wanted to see if it'd be ok
