what is the ruels with dropping the forks on a ROAD bike. i see a lot of ppl are droping the shocks on show bike but how would that work on a road bike. mot fail? if there not leaking or damaged they should pass? but what them having NO movement i dont know how i would work at testing?
what do you mean by no movement? if the shocks are bottomed out all the time your gonna break both wrists at the first pothole lol ive dropped the forks on my z400 project by lowering the yokes about 40mm on the stanchions. spoke to the guy i know at the MoT centre he said it would be ok if they still have full travel. look on here if you still have doubts with MoT http://www.motuk.com/bike/1-1.asp
40mm! bloody hell do you like looking at the road rather then ahead hahah as said dropping the yoke down is fine as long as they still do there job and have travel its fine, it will efeect the way the bike handles. for example the lower you drop the front the more unstable at high speeds it will feel but it will turn in much auicker and feel more responsive at low speeds.
i mean in europe they are dropping them right the legs so there is no movement. like a hard front end. i know the old monkey bikes had no front shocks but i did not know how to law works with making a bike into a hard front if it ment to have a shock
like this bike as been dropped to the floor. this is from the usa and it's on the road. so we now know it will be fine on the road in the usa and europe but what about the uk? http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/3804/20121108001726772.jpg http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/3964/20121106171022712.jpg
If you have no front shocks expect a lot of wear on bearings, arms, wrists, and every part on the bike as it will have to absorb every impact and vibration!! if you want it slammed then just do it, itl drive horrid but i cant imagine youl get pulled over, and as for an mot simply raise them back up when its due
