hi, had some trouble with my bike last week when the air filter fell off, so when ordering a new one i thought id treat myself to a new pm adjustable clutch. when i was fitting my new clutch i decided to fit one of the torque springs (white one) that came with my speedcontrol kit (not much stiffer than standard). the clutch has made no end of difference to my take off and bottom end but im confused to why my top end seems slower, is this coincidence or could it be the different torque spring effecting it? cheers
Does it seem to be revving higher but going slower at top end ?? of course the smart thing to do would be, fit the original contra spring back on and see if your top end speed comes back usually a stiffer contra spring needs heavier rollers, but usually you can get away with fitting the white polini/malossi contra springs as they are only slightly stiffer than std!
yeh dave thats spot on, i wouldnt say the change in speed is dramatic just enough to notice...i dont know much about torque springs which is why i didnt fit it to begin with, just thought i may aswell try something out that i had paid for. il just put the old one back in and see what happens. thanks
my scooters got slower, did 55 when was standard, then it did 45 i tried everything, even put a 70kit on and only just hittin 50, so was faster standard, so what else could be fuked
probably not jetted or rollered up properly i would of thought... or could be something silly like a worn/fouled spark plug... whats it doing revs wise at top speed, revving high or low ??
i used to run 4,5g rollers, and it would get to 55 nice and smooth etc, and then it only did around 50, then 45, iv tried belts, different rollers and its the same story, dont understand my clutch either
When your air filter came off, you might have got something in the carb...Wouldn't hurt to clean it......and see if that helps....
i cant tell whos problem your answering to, i dont think any damage has been done to mine, still starts fine and accelerates well, i gave the carb a clean for good measure, i think dave was right saying its the toque spring, cant be arsed finding the right rollers again, just gonna put the old one back in and leave it how it was, only tried it for the sake of it
might be running too lean if you dont have the airbox on proper (too much air) and that may have caused it. my ped lost topend when i didnt put the airbox cover on properly i think i lost like 8mph clock speed which is annoying on a scoot especially.
