I start the bike up and it ticks over fine, soon as I twist the throttle to accellerate (not massive accelleration, just enough to get me moving) the bike chokes out and dies.

Had the needle jet out to make sure it wasnt stuck or anything and its fine.

Dont know what else to look at... any ideas?

Also... There is a hose coming from the neck of the fuel filler pipe which leads nowhere but it seems way too long to just be a breather hose.

Doubt its related but any ideas on wtf that is?

And, ive found a small hose, again too long to be a breather hose, coming from the bottom of the carb leading to nowhere.... wtf?

Im about a nut hair away from pouring petrol over the bike and tossing a match on it.

the one on the bottom of the carb is just for when/if you undo the drain screw have a check to see if you have a air leak also check were the fuel pipe connects to the carb.have you had a look at around the cylinder to see if its all dry check round the base gasket to make sure its dry and there isnt a leak from a faulty base gasket

Not sure how to check for an air leek.

Gaskets all look secure, havent stripped anything down to check but theres no leaks or anything anywhere, no fuids dripping down anywhere they shouldnt be.

Prior to this I didnt have the engine turning over... replaced the spark plug. The old one was black and sooty.

Usually indicates too rich a fuel mix but not sure if thats currently whats going on or if the spark that was allready in the bike was as old as the bike its self.

Dunno how to check that either.

    Cheers.

when its running and warm, adjust the air screw until it ticks over at its fastest, then turn down the tickover to whatever you like. if the pilot circuits not setup right (first 1/4 throttle) it will bog out and die

Is the pump jet arm working? The black plastic arm on the side of carb, these sometimes sieze up, work the throttle to see if it moves like a see-saw.

Is that the pump jet arm?

If so, it moves fine when the throttle it turned.

    Where abouts is this pipe?

Ive got hoses and pipes and wired allover the gaff... Looks like the bike was put together by someone sponsored by a gaffer tape company! o_O
