    Hey Guys,

Ok here it is in a nutshell really I'm looking to spend around £400 - £500 on a second hand 125cc scooter, unfortunately I simply cannot afford to purchase brand new.

I've looked on Ebay, Bike Trader, Gumtree, Preloved etc for scooters around the price mark which I have mentioned however there are just so many to choose from! I've learned from this site that I should stay away from imports, however I'm just lost.

I'm aware buying at this price will obviously mean there is a high possibility of scratches on the bike...sorry let me rephrase...Scooter :p I'm looking for a scooter with TAX & MOT..If i know what to look for then I can really narrow my search down, should I purchase a scooter which is somewhat damaged and have it repaired, (I've seen a few scooters with speedo wires not working properly/and (throttle wires) is it inexpensive to repair?)

ANY help you can offer me will be EXTREMELY appreciated! and thanks for reading.

    Kind Regards

I understand, I forgot to mention that I'm looking for a 125cc as opposed to a 50cc however thank you for the offer :)

    Decided I'll stick with a 50cc,

Tax and MOT on a £400-500 125 scooter  Will take a lot of looking and having the money sitting there with transport too.

    It's too low otherwise.

Yeah I've had some real problems looking for a decent scooter for the price i set, I think I might push up my budget.

I've taken alot of advice from members here and it really has pointed me in the right direction, especially regarding what model of scooter etc I should be looking at, however more suggestions are welcome.

p.s thanks for your input its very much appreciated

There are quite a few topics on what scooter to buy but they are normally more a personal thing as it depends on what you want it for or for what sort of distances etc etc.

A bit of background info would be helpful...

    Sure,

well first off i'll deffo be using my scooter to travel to and from work which is about 4.5 miles away from where I reside, I'm a 24 year old guy who rely's on a bus, and I certainly feel restricted regarding "getting out and about" is conserned, I would love to have the ability to get myself to Sheffield as thats where all the better jobs are, lol! I would also like a bike to get me out and go for a drive I suppose.

I like the look of Yamaha Aeroz's, Runners, Aprilla and the Speedflights (been told to stay away from peugeot)

I've had a look on Ebay for some of the Piaggio Scooters and there pretty cool I jush wish there was a Piaggio NRG with a 125 engine...:-(

    also what are Boatian like?

Well I think I have utilised everybody's input which they kindly gave me over the past few days regarding a scooter! "tigger87peds" you will be pleased to know I have gone for a Piaggio as you said they were reliable, after reading alot of positive reviews on the internet I thought this fitted the bill...I hope for £485
