Hi there, I've just started a mig&tig welding course at college. Today we went throught the defect of welding porosity, worm hole etc etc we never got any hand outs on it What I am looking for is a site that can give me a picture of the defects with the cause and remedies explained. I would like to print these off to stick on me wall! cheers
im currently 3/4 way through level 2 welding at college and to over come all of the problems i find its mainly how the welder is set up i just play with the setting till i find it works fine tig is easyer to set up but harder to weld and mig is harder to set up but easier to weld
ive just started level two I've got how to set the welders up just its just he's going to quiz us on the defects and other stuff so don't want to look like a dick plus he's me dads pal! so need to stick in proper haha
oh i dont really know how the technical way to overcome them is but i know the defects and ive passed all of the exams we have had so far all the exams ive done have asked for is to lable the diagram with the right names of the defects
ah right going to do some research if not I'll just ask my tutor! wanting to do well with this! bored of mechanics doesn't seem to be much mnoney in it haha
nah i was gonna do mechanics till i saw how little you get paid but in welding the pays well good my dads on £16 hour flat time and i think like £25 on over time cant wait till im on those wages
yeah Well there wasn't a welding course available local when I left school so jumped onto the mechanics course pretty much finished my level 3 and lost interest, but a stand alone welding course because available at an academy our college has! so on that playing catch up right now but will have finished in 8 weeks and hopefully on to a level 3 or apprenticeship with a day release!
You could say lucky me, I've just spent 3 and a half years doing mechanics! but the level 3 if available will be full length! I wouldn't count it as lucky I'll have 7 months of work to do and welding to perfect in 8 weeks haha! I want to get qualified and F@!k off - off shore!
youtube has some great mig and tig welding instructional videos, have a search and all will be reveled live long and prosper
