Hi I have a vespa LX with a 172cc 2t typhoon engine in I'm thinking of riding it to Scotland from Essex next weekend for a scooter rally. My question is has anyone else done any long journeys on simular scooters?
Better on a scooter as well , Cpla hundred miles on a trials bike stopped at lights hundred yards from home, leg down/fell over as legs mutineed..
I used to go Sheffield to Nottingham or Sheffield to Leeds quite regularly on an Aprilia SR125 (with 172 kit) which it managed mostly problem free, sticking to 60ish tops on duel carriage ways and sometimes opting to go the longer backs roads to make the ride more interesting. The only time I ever properly broke down on it doing a longer distance journey is when I decided to nip down the motorway and was pretty much at top speed for a good few miles, didn't even make it to the next junction before the main bearings gave up. Provided you are on top of maintenance, take it steady and avoid pegging it at top speed for long stretches you should be fine.
