Got a Jog RR and when I got it, the lights came on for about 3 seconds and then just turned off, now all my lights don't work, I mean the brake lights and indicators work but nothing else, speedo lights don't work either, anybody know what could be causing this?

check the fuses near the battery, then check the lighting connections behind the front panel

Right this might be a really stupid question but I have no clue about electrics, mechanically i can do anything to a moped but when electrics come into place i am sh*t. The fuse is meant to be a 7.5Amp, I have a 10Amp fuse in it, will that affect it and blow the bulb?

fuses are meant to be the safety net in the wiring.there are different types for different uses..if your fuse is the correct type and blows on a regular basis...something needs checking...fuses do "BLOW" sometimes from excessive current draw and become weeker over time...heat builds up and compromises the metal their made from.you say it blew after about three seconds...get another NEW 12v 7.5amp fuse and fit it...then turn on the lights and if it blows again, get an electrician who can run a meter round it and find out what's causing it..just having the lights on should not blow the fuse.don't be tempted to cram any old piece of tin foil or a non automotive fuse in it..your wiring could end up burning out,as it would then become the weakest point and that's gonna piss you right off looking at a smoking loom.other than that, with no experience of electrics..pointless me telling you about volts, amps and watts equations.

It's not the fuse that blows, the fuse has never blown it's the light bulb an I'm thinking the fuse is a 10amp and is letting too much current through to the light bulb and blows the bulb, would this be correct?

ok..does the bulb blow when you have have the engine running or at a standstill using just the battery. A fuses rating is its ability to handle the current load at a specific voltage.like a 10 watt amplifier with 100 watt speakers, the speakers wont blow on full power but a 100 watt amp on 10 watt speakers will if its driven hard..sounds like you have a short somewhere and the bulb is now being the weakest point in the circuit.if it blows only after starting the engine, could be your bunging in too much voltage from a dodgy regulator.difficult to say what it is from a distance..have you done any kind of work around the electrics recently..check all your contacts and all the earth points as a start but i think you would be better off with an electrician giving it a once-over with a meter.

Lights only turn on when you have the engine running on these mopeds and there isn't a switch to turn these off either, they're always on

bloody phone.you need to get that checked by a competent sparky.and I need to get this bloody phone replaced..nokia lumia are crap..ide have a guess and say your regulator is naff but hard to guess with out it being in front of me and a meter to verify it.

Silly question, but have you got the correct voltage bulb in it?
12 volt and not 6 volt?
They are very similar looking bulbs.

Check the multi-plug connections behind the front panel. They are known to work loose over time and it's a common fault across a lot of makes and models of scooter. it only takes a pot hole for these connections to start working loose.

I've got a spare regulator so I'll whack that in, it worked before I took it off so if it's that then it should be alright
