Newbie here (biker 20+ years ago) - Considering the above scooter for commuting. Is it decent? Does anybody have experience with it? I intend to do all servicing myself and am mechanically competent. I am looking at the availability of specialist tools for clutch and variator removal and can't seem to find lexmoto items. Should I be searching for the generic engine code instead? If so, what would that be for this model? Many thanks in advance and thanks for accepting me.
Only "specialist" tools you need are a rattle gun, compressor and impact sockets and a torque wrench. Compression tester wouldn't go amiss, and some feeler gauges. And some blue and red loctite. Lexmoto have come a long way in the last few years. However, they still have some way to go to be up there with Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, etc. From new the exhaust will rot through within 2 years, but they are cheap enough to replace with genuine lexmoto parts. Engine parts are cheap enough, I bought several 170cc kits from CMPO (which is actually Llexeter, the main importer of Lexmoto) for the princely sum of £6.24 each. However saying that they are hugely expensive on other parts, so you takes your pick. If they are meticulously maintained they will last well, as will every other bike out there, it's down to you and your ear/feel/panchant for the machine. At £1500 new, don't have the finance, it's not worth it paying for 5 years on any bike really, especially a 125cc. It'll probably top out at around 55mph, it's cdi restricted but can be got around with an aftermarket replacement The fuel gauge can get a bit dicky with age, I had one that read half a tank when in fact it was empty. Apart from the little foibles, they're ok. Just don't expect supersonic speeds and truly trouble free motoring. Stay on top of the little things and it will last
Many, many thanks for your reply, Steve. That sums up what I was expecting, very well. You've given me a lot of food for thought there - Should I commit or play safe and buy a CG125? The idea of a scooter is appealing, being able to hop on and our to the local shops. Servicing videos I've seen are manageable too. One again, thanks.
Here goe's, keep on top of valve clearance, there renound for closing up, they do use oil, get a quality drive belt, descent tires and don't ride it on the stops all the time !
Did you get performance parts for a lemoto enigma mate,I can't find anything for it anywhere, got an exhaust that's it,I'd like a cvt kit and unrestricted cdi
