Right, when I bought my 70 kit it came with an exhaust gaskets that I fitted. had to remove my exhaust a couple times for various reasons. slowly my ped started to get louder so I took the exhaust of again and the gasket was ruined so I called up a local shop to get a new gasket but I was told Leo Vince zx exhausts don't need or come with gaskets?? is this true? . re-fitted the exhaust without the gasket and it is still very loud!!

you do need a gasket for any exhaust, even when you buy one brand new they supply you with a gasket. just buy a standard one for your bike and job done

when i fitted a new gasket it was fine for about a day, the exhaust was nice and tight but the next day it was loose again and blowing out the bore slightly which makes it loud how can i stop this happenning?? :beg:

    thanks in advance.

Could try new bolts/studs&nuts and thread lock? Might be a bit difficult if you need to remove it any time soon though...

bolts are super tight but exhaust still has sum play inbetween the manifold and bore.

Using more than a tiny smear of paste is a bodge really. Are the gaskets not thick enough or the bolts too long or something? On my zip they're studs but the nuts are seized on so come out whole.Or does the exhaust not seat properly because the flange on the pipe after the mating face is too deep?

the gasket is rather thin, i havent used any paste's yet. one of the studs came with the the bore and is longer than the other one that i got of a pm tuning x-tex bore and is shorter but didnt think that would affect anything. it must not be seating propperly because its blowing out the bore and is really loud. im not sure bout the depth of the flange.

    thanks for the replys guys!

I've had 3 ZX's on both aircooled and liquid cooled piaggio engines, and I ran no gasket on any of them without any problems with the engine being too loud. Not ALL pipes need a gasket, some manifold designs are the gasket sorta "built in".

Maybe the exhaust isent fitted at quite the right angle or maybe you didnt tighten the bolts evenly onto the cylinder.

If you still get problems you can seal it with silicon sealent (bathroom sealent), as this is heatproof & ive done this on my skipper and the sealent has stayed there for neally a year without burning away.
