Hey guys, whats the law on neon lights being fixed to scooters/vehicles? are they legal if you dont have them on when driving or are they illegal full stop?
I know they're illegal to have them on whilst driving but thats all i know.

Do they also count as a modification which could invalidate insurance?

No replies saying neons are a waste of time and money thanks.

they are legal as long as they arent turned on.

it depends on the insurance company

im sure neons are legal.... i saw a limo with neons underneath.... proper nice bright blue ones.... i also had some on my nrg some blue ones.... drove past coppers and never got pulled.... if limos that are company owned can have neons why cant a normal car or bike..

i have found different people have different opinions on them. they are ment to be for use offroad use only but a copper once told me that they are ok as long as you can only see the glow and not the tube.

well, coppers dont know the law that well in all fairness. "light shining from a vehicle must conform to function only" wich means if you have light other than red/orange from the back or clear or orange from the front your breaking the law. you cant ride with any light other than needed lights on your vehicle under any circumstance. no if's no ands and deffo no coppers with there half assed grasp of the law (they only have 8 months traning then are left to it for there entire carreer. never take a coppers word on the law)

pretty damn sure their illegal full stop cos it distracts other road users attention, especially if there flashing

you will get your ass handed to you on a plate if you fit blue disco lights on your vehicle - as in copper lights, I saw it once on TV the guy was in deep trouble

anyway why would you even fit neons? there well tacky like one of those exhaust tips and "racing gear knobs" from argos...

iv always been told that if you cannot see the actual bulb then it is NOT illegal. i have soo many times been past a cop car with them on and they havent reacted, also been by traffic cops who pulled my mate over for bibbin at 12 at night lol but the cops just let me ride by even though i had my neons on.

    its well confusin thu :wtf:
