Hi all i would like some advice on my Chinese Scooter its a 125 cc 4 stroke twist and go aprox 5 years old i have owned it for 11 months. The problem i have is today whilst coming back from shopping i noticed that there was no real power when i twist the throttle , it moves foward but picks up speed very slowly even on a flat road , it wont seem to go above 30 mph even when the throttles open right up , there's also a lack of power or pull when i open it up. I have little experience with the workings of engines or bikes but my father in law does, before i take it down to him what would be the first things to look at ?.I have noticed that it seems to act well when its on the stand and throttles nicely ( father in law said it sounds like a clutch issue?) Anyway whats your opinion on this?.whats strange is how it was working well when i went shopping only for it to act like it is now when i return. Also is it normal for a speedo to show 50mph on the clock but your actually only going 40mph? i tested it with a satnav to confirm this was the case , Thanks in advance for any advice given with this

everytime i fill up at tesco petrol station in my town my bike plays the funny bugger and begins to act like it has a flat spot (i call tesco fuel kangeroo fuel)

also i wouldnt go by what the sat nav says ... if your that worried about it get a buddy to drive next to you on the dual carrage way at 50MPH

and if i remember correctly ... when i was still on my 125cc bikes i over fillled one day (petrol) and it played funny buggers with the fuel tank and to what i can understand basicly it created a vaccume in the tank and began to starve my engine of fuel. just released the cap to hear it suck air in while i was removing it and the bike returned to normal

but in saying that it could be anything from dirty fuel to a fault with the bike ... not trying to worry you but one of the petrol stations in my area a while back had a large number of customers complaining about water in the fuel

but as everyone will tell you ... when it comes to problem elimination start with the cheapest option

ive herd that the high octaine stuff (i guess thats wut your talking about) can give you engine problems if you constantly use the stuff ... something about your engine burning hot all the time
