no mate, not anymore, it was an old law that was in maybe about 20-30 years ago, but now it doesnt make a difference, you'll need a full bike license im afraid!

if you have a valid cbt you can send it off with your full car license to get a full 50cc moped license, says so on the back of me cbt certificate

the law changed so you cant just get a 50cc moped license automatically with a car license

    sam

    Category Full P :

This certificate also validates for the life of the license the full moped entitlement granted with a full car license issued in respect of a practical car test passed on or after 1st February 2001 if either :

    > The car test is passed within 2 years of this certificate being issued, or
    > the training course was completed after the car test was passed.

This certificate is valid in respect of all mopeds unless restrictions are recorded overleaf by the instructor. The restriction that may be recorded is when a course was completed on a motor bicycle and sidecar combination or on a moped with more than two wheels. in these cases the full entitlement is restricted to mopeds with more than two wheels

I belive you still have to have L plates... but don't have to retake your test if you have passed full driving license?

Yeh basically if you pass a driving test while you have a valid CBT, or your do your CBT after passing a driving test, you get full moped entitlment. This means you can ride a 50cc with a passenger and no L's BUT it still has to be restricted

"if you have a valid cbt you can send it off with your full car license to get a full 50cc moped license, says so on the back of me cbt certificate"

Odd, doesn't say this on the back of any CBT certificates I've seen :wtf:

good news though if you dont have to wear them, because evrytime i get pulled im always told off for not having them :msn1:

saves me having to do a full bike test and spend another £300+ for the sake of not wearing ugly flashcards on my ped in the future

dont really want a biiger bike than 125 really, 110mph is mooore than enough for me on these shitty roads

    interesting thread this one...

yeah but 50cc moped also means it would be illegal to be riding anything that goes over 30mph lol

so if your caught going over 30mph and say you have a full 50cc moped licence they'll screw you over.

i swear cops wont bother tho.
i have a full car license too
i ride with no L's when im on the ped, fuck it
when they pull me they always ask 'what type of license you got?'
im guessing when u say full car license and CBT for peds
theyll back off...i dunno i have yet to see

    Enjoy the six points?

Just spoke to the people where i got my cbt from, they said it doesn't work no more.

If you don't have "Category P" On your license now, you are not entitled to drive with a passenger / without l plates even if you have a full uk car license.

If you do have Category P on your license, you are obviously allowed. He called it 'Grandfathers law' or something.

Dann you can ride a moped without L's if you have a full car and CBT

It used to be the case where you passed you (car) driving test and got awarded a full moped entitlment even if you'd never ridden in your life. It'd have been either 2001 or 1997 when they changed the rules. "grandfather rights" basically means they can't take the entitlement off people who already have it, same for trailers and 7.5 tonners

Anyway given the choice I'd rather be on a derestricted 50 with L plates than stuck at 30mph without

check up on dvla.gov.uk and direct.gov.uk/motoring , it'll all be up there (though prolly hard to find....)

im riding my ped on a full car license passed before 2001...no L plates!!!

never had any probs with the rozzers...got stopped once by traffic police 2yrs ago...they asked what license have i got...i told them full car passed 1992

and they basically waved me on my way...oh and i was doing 40ish mph when they pulled me...but they never questioned it ;)

Edit: and yes i have a P entitlement on my license...

    sometimes being old pays ;)
