i rebuilt my kmx the other day i think it was wednesday, evrything has gone fine and its gone together nicely

fitted the engine in lat night but tried starting it this morning and will not start

ive added fresh fuel a new plug (sparks really nice electric blue every rev)

however the battery is not connected, as im sure it will run without? (battery is a bit battered hence not conected)

    the reeds are fine

the problem im getting at the moment is its backfiring and it did that wen it seized as the air was going straight past the rings my boss told me in work

im going to clean the carb now (Although it was working nicely before the seizure)

its backfiring on the kick ive tried bump starting and it still wil not fire up any ideas?
    thanks

the backfireing is it like a burst of air? if so i was told to check the reedblock and inlet were sealed and a exhaust gasket in place i did this and also had a fiddle with the idle mix and it worked for mee

yes thats its exactly what, before when it seized, it kept doing this but im sure when i kicked started it yesterday the reeds made a sort of slurring sound after i kicked it for about 4 seconds

i did check the reeds when i built the bike to see if they were good silly really i swopped them for a set that came out of a lump i had for spares i should have just stuck to a spare set i have already

i will double check this as soon as i get an steel insert into my ali case thread, the poxy stuff is so brittle .. lol
