hi all, quick question ive got a runner 70 and the electric start doesnt work. i got the bike and bought a new sleeve for the side casing to stop the lever from wobbling about and slipping. but after i done it it was still slipping so i got a new engagement piece on the front of the front pulley (obviously) and it took 5-10 decent kicks then the mech munched it. got another and managed to get it start but destroyed another piece. so i ordered another engagement piece and a new mech put it in and its not even touching now just slips and its rather frustrating. is there a bush that supposed to go in the side casing that holds the mech in to stop it jumping out to far and doing what it likes which is what its doing now?? if none of that made sense im sorry but thats the best i can describe it. thanks in advance
are they a similar set up to the ZIP? If so, theres a throw gear that moves outwards as it rotates (large cog on inner casing attached to kick start makes it turn) The large gear is spring loaded and then theres a clip spring effect that holds the throw gear in situ might be clear enough in the pic....
If you remove the kick from the outer casing making sure the cog and shaft cant drop through... from the outside of the shaft there SHOULD be a very thin washer and a circlip to hold the shaft in situ. If this is missing the shaft will be further through the casing than its supposed to be and therefore wont line up correctly with the engagement piece (throw gear)...this'll then have a knock-on effect with the gear where it engages on the variator
it has still got the sirclip on ive got another engine with a sidecasing so hopefully it will sort it
