anyone had any experiance with kevlar clothing, im thinking of buying some instead of the normal boring jacket and pants. iv seen afew diffrent types but dont know wich one is best.
draggin jeans are supposed to be the dogs. Theres a vid on youtube of them testing a pair whilst being dragged behind a bike...not cheap...but worth every penny to save your skin
Something certainely been at back of mind for ages, lost 'bout 20%surface skin via gravel rash over years!!.
Aldi had a bike event last Sunday I went and got a chest fleece there has loads of stuff including the kevlar jeans with knee protection for £29.99 they was good quality aswell
Thanks for pointing out aldi, one of the s/stores round my way but not exactly local, one of main reasons for getting 'ped-to broaden my stomping ground. Might check them out©summer time for some kit for winter as well.ta.
the only thing you need to watch out for with the hoodies is some of the are only part kevlar so would be useless. then you want kevlar lined gloves.. not cheap!
Quite right gloves not! cheap, good point on 'part' kevlar/side affects to softer areas after impact / abrasion not pretty!.
i paid £50 for some aparently kevlar gloves off tha market and managed to rip them without falling off WTF! ill haveto save some read cash and buy a well known brand
Cast about for review or straight from the horses mouth-riders presently using. One of the most important areas to protect against injury in a crash (apart from the obvious) is your hands,on a 1st aid course last year my advisor told me as defined by law technically the greatest disability a person can generaly face is to lose a thumb.
I don't know if you have any near by but Bikers Paradise do a decent set of non armored Kevlar lined gloves for £30, Whilst I haven't fallen off my bike to test them I did give them a jab with a kitchen knife on a chopping board not a scratch.
Never understood why people would choose tracksuits over jeans!, Tracksuits are generally made from synthetic fibres 'an in the event of an off/especially a low speed gravel rash sitch-that heat generated will melt them into your bits (25 yrs later - still have the tattoo!).
