Or at least that's what I think it's doing, maybe the base gasket. Yesterday I did the crank seals, new airbox, new inlet, jetted it right and did the top end gaskets. Run beautifully today, brought it in from doing a plug chop and the plug was great. Just went to start it up took about 50 kicks, and it's loud as fuck and theres smoke coming from around the cylinder. Also, it's smoking a lot. I dont think I would have noticed it getting louder when I did the plug chop as I can't hear too much with my lid on, and it's always loud at full throttle anyway. This is seriously fucking me off now, it did it before and i just did the top end gaskets and it was nice and quiet and smooth for about 15 minutes. Why would gaskets keep blowing? It's a standard cylinder with port work, 17.5mm carb and a Doppler s3r.
put it on a piece of glass and see if it rocks and get some wet and dry and tape it to the glass then rub the head on the glass until it is 100% flat or get it milled down
Yeah but surely be ause it's a rubber seal gasket it won't need to be completely flat like it would on a car or a bike with a copper gasket?
Yea but if there is less pressure on one side it will try to escape anywhere it can and tht is the weak spot and will blow out
Fair point actually. Might just stop arsing round and buy a 70 kit and crank, and rebuild it properly. In two weeks I will have 300 quid, I have a car im rebuilding though
Was thinking stage6 cast iron, stamped as a 49cc and it's got good reviews. It's just annoying that I need a new crank for a 70 kit
