    K&N Air Filter Help!!

Damn near no performance upgrade. The carburettor would need to be upjetted to suit. What bike and what specs/modifications have you got.

You will get no performance upgrade, will have to up jet the carburettor to suit the air filter which can be hard to do and will be trial and error to setup, it will run poor when it rains and will used a lot more fuel. Enough reasons why not to buy an air filter? :)

I also read somewhere that a bit like the exhaust, the air box is also a tuned size for when the reeds close, when they close fuel is the pushed back out the carb into the air box, if its an open filter its lost, whereas with the air box its kept and then drawn back in on the next intake charge. Its why you see those 'boost bottles' that go next to the carb to temporarily collect the fuel rich air being forced back out the carb when the reed closes
