I take the scooter into the garage, put it on its centre stand and thwack the stand snaps into two pieces. I then try and remove the centre stand bits and one of the bolts has corroded to the point where the head shears off it. Its drilled now (lets not get started on how much of a screwup the drilling was), but i still need a bolt and nyloc nut to try and get the new stand on tomorrow. Hopefully it holds. But i really hope this is the end of the bad luck. Ive had to spend to much cash in the last 4 weeks to get things running, and i could do without all these extra things. With the MOT next week, and still a need to cable tie bits of fairing and the rear light unit. To many annoyances. :/ </rant>
i welded a big plate on my centre stand, admittedly at first the welder just burn right through, but i managed to find enough "good" metal to tack it into place, seems the salt air here really fucks metal up
get a side stand for it and use center stand like over night and put some clear grease on it so it any shit sticks to that and carnt rot it pal
Its now 100% fixed again. I put 2 coats of regular enamel (as an undercoat), 2 coats of rubberised enamel, and 1 coat of clear lacquer on the whole thing, then greased the parts connected to the bike with copper grease. Side stands might be ok, but i much prefer a centre stand. I second the salty sea air rotting stuff. It shouldnt be so much of a problem this year as the majority of the main frame is now painted and lacquered, and anything not easy to get to got greased. Now i just need to work out how to fix the problems the new exhaust gave me with acceleration (carb overhaul coming up i guess), and fix the choke so it actually works. Then new tyre on the front next month, and it should be good for a while. Btw, what is a dyno, and where would i find one in mid cornwall. Would Damerells at Indian Queens have one? It said in the leaflet with the exhaust that i would need to get the bike dyno'd to make the most of the exhaust. I guess its some type of tuning.
