just destroyed a kit :)

yeah so i just destroyed my stage6 racing kit, im thinking it may have been the tank which i replaced yesterday which must have had some crap in. :rtfm:

so i just thought i would post some pics, lol

had to put a stage6 streetrace on, lol :cry:

 

looks a lot like one that had a circlip fracture on me and wipe out the side of the barrel, the piston and the ring.

 

hmmm, its a fucking pain. both my circlips were fine the whole kit is fucked though

 

is the ring in tact? check the reeds are too. somethin pretty solid has been floatin about. worth a look at the plug tip too.

 

yeah the whole ring is intact, the one part has actually seized into the piston. ill have a check of the reeds tomorrow though :good:

heres a picture of the head, it got pretty mashed up aswell with dents, and ive only just noticed this but there seems to be extremely small metal filings in the squish zone, possibly the missing chunks from the area which the piston makes contact with?



do you think it could have been crap in my petrol tank?

 

pretty doubtful i would of thought, that looks like something elsewhere in your engine has broke and entered the combustion chamber...

you sure your bearings are all in 1 piece ???

 

oh shit, i just went and checked and the small end bearing is fucked. That explains it. thanks dave

 

the problem is the bearing was new with the crank, i dont understand how that failed, do you think i should contact scooterattack about it? thats who i bought it from

 

prob is for a warranty point of view, you can't prove its been assembled by a mechanic or someone similarly qualified. They'll prob just fob you off stating that you forgot to lube the little end bearing on assembly or something similar...then its your word against theirs

 

yeah, get onto them about it. even if nothing comes of it, at least they know there's a quality issue so it shouldn't happen again.

nice one dave, i was pretty convinced it was something broken up in the engine too, its uncommon for anything that big to get through the tank, let alone through the carb.
