Hi just bought a jonway Chinese scooter don't know anything about bikes except how to ride them . I'm having trouble starting it and not quite sure what to try next I've taken off the kickstand safety switch and recharged the battery . It won't start from kick start . There is plenty of fuel in it ......... any ideas

put the kickstand back on and safety switch ...... then try .

problem with safety switch is it needs to be bypassed, if you just unplug it and not bypass it the bike wont start because it thinks stand is still down , if when you have put it back on it still does not start, you will need to remove sparkplug and check for a spark.

remove spark plug and rest it onto part of the metal frame of the scooter, now kick the starter or hit the electric start and look to see if the plug is producing a spark. if this does not happen you have an electrical fault, it could be the coil - ht lead and ht cap - sparkplug itslef or a problem with the coil eciter on the stator plate under the flywheel.

usually you find them under the front headlamp panel. have to remove the front panel on scooter and its usually tucked up there mounted to frame. will be a silver like box with a ribbed look for cooling it and a smallish block on the bottom.
