With an open filter I would seriously start at 145 with a 28 mm carb - and work down by fives. What size carb are you using ?

is that 12 or 15 mm? if it's 15mm i'd start with 125 and work down carefully.

You have to work down and find the opitmum jet.

Typh Josh is dead right. You need a box from about 130 to 100 for an open filter. It could be about 110 but it would be suicide to just choose one on heresay. What's more expensive - a box of jets or a new piston/cylinder ?

im not judging you, but doesnt a 3 figure number seem too rich for a stock 50cc?

Do you know anybody with an open filter who isn't into triple figures ?
I may be erring on the big side - and I shouldn't have even started bandying figures around because the simple answer is I do not know what jet he needs. But i would start with about 120 and work down by fives. And I bet the right one will be in the early hundreds.

what if i go back into the stock air box, can i keep the same jet and will it run better ?
or will i have to go a bit bigger still ?
what jet would you reccomend then ?

if you go back to standard air box(i recommend) and keep your exhaust i would upjet by atleast 10%, but this can vary.
