First of all i picked up a cheap gilera ice to use as a project, the crank thread and most of the splines were knackered. I replaced the crank, changed the spark plug and cleaned the carb out and got it running. It has a malossi sport 70 kit on it, a malossi variator and i think it had around 6gram rollers in (sorry i cant remember exactly), a malossi delta clutch, a dolleroto 21mm carb and a stage 6 pro replica exhaust. The jet which was already in the carb is a 100, tell me if i'm wrong but i think this is too high? what would be the best jet size for this set up, also another question, should i remove the oil pump etc and convert it to pre-mix. Thanks
what air filter is on it ? if its the air box (which is best) then thats jetted way to high but if its an open type filter then it needs to be jetted that high just to make up for the extra air but you wont be benifitting from it just using a lot more fuel. and with the malossi kit thats on it the oil pump is fine and you dont need to pre mix but some peaple will always say premix is better as you know its right but up to you i only think you need to pre mix on high end race kits that you have a lot of cash into and take a lot of looking after and need to be spot on
Your better off with a smaller carb a 19mm or 17.5mm are more than adequate on a sports 70 kit. Also stay with the standard airbox it helps by reflecting pulses back into the carb increasing the pressure and intake flow.
the 21mm carb came with the bike so i'll keep it on saves me buying a new one i've got one on my aerox, just guzzle petrol haha. And unfortunately the airbox didnt come with the bike so looks like the filter will have to do for now. thanks anyway
