hi everyone, hoping someone with some experience can help me out iv got a zip 50 with sports exhaust (forgot the make) standard air box but all derestricted and a 64 jet, it rides okay and will do about 50 on the flat but its painfully slow up hill. do people think I need a smaller jet ? I bought it running a sponge air filter and an 80 jet and wouldn't do over 30 would just bog, I went and bought the 64 today and put the standard filter on and its made loads of difference . what do people think I should try next ? thanks Blaine
I think your plug looks OK. Perhaps some slightly lighter rollers and maybe a new corrector spring would be the ticket. Same type of spring - just 'fresher'.
Thanks for the advise ! any recommendation from where to buy from online ? or what weight rollers to start with..i assume mine are just the standard ones Thanks
Sorry- I'm not even in the same country. Pedparts? For the rollers, weigh them accurately and then figure out what you need to reduce the overall weight by about one gramme. this may not be necessary with a new contra spring. But if you're going to have it apart, take the time to dismantle the rear corrector and clean it with turps. Regrease it with axle grease and then put it back together. The thing is spinning at 6000 rpm plus, it causes the grease in there to fly off - and what's left turns to chewing gum because of the heat and you lose all power on the shut-down / open up because the corrector won't close up again.
