I have a problem with my italjet dragster. Basically the temperature light will come on even when riding. I have drained the coolent and re filled and blead the system. Also done a full top end rebuild because it look a bit suspicious with gasket sealent on every gasket. Then I replaced the temperature switch / sensor on the skull cap head. The thermostat works fine and tested I have even ran without the thermostat and have the same problem. When I take the coolant filler cap off I can see that water is being pumped up there. But the temperature light still comes on. The scooter still runs fine.
It might be necessary to get a temp gauge on the engine, most engines like and do run around 72-75 c, might be worth checking ! If your've gone through all the obvious, pump belt, stat, rad ect.
Yesterday I put my temperature gauge off my trial tech speedo in the coolant Expansion Tank and that was 65c so I would imagine the cylinder temperature is higher. I will see if I can get a cylinder temperature the thread on the head is the wrong size to fit my trial tech temperature sender.. The other option is just to fit a flywheel fan and cylinder off my sr125 for now.. Until I sort out my 183 engine
You could do but it defeats sorting out the problem, a 183cc will create even more heat so if there is a problem it need's sorting. Does the Dragster have a rad fan? I can't remember ! If you was to use a A/C top end you'd need a A/C flywheel/cdi and possibly stator. I'm sure you'll sort it.
Yeah it does defeat the object but it's getting all striped down in two months powder coating the frame and will be using a 12v water pump. .. Yeah it does have a rad fan it has never came on. It does work when you bridge the two wires.
