i brought this engine four years ago knowing nothing about bikes it has a malossi crank and a barrel that matches the case please help i know somebody will know ifit is or not any help appreciated it looks rather smooth so im guessing it has had some work done
yeah, they have been quite nicely done by the looks of it, when putting the lump back together you will need to cut some material away from the base gasket as there is a fair bit of material been taken away from the transfer feeds. pop a couple of pics of the cylinder up, both the transfer feeds and the exhaust port if you can, be worth just seeing what extent it's been modded to.
Thanks Guys i ment flowed lol soz im still learning  will get pics of cylinder bin away so aint bin on here in ages (update got pics of the cylinder hope this helps had to use a torch because my iphone is how i take the pics so its hard to get a good pic)
Let me know if I need to take any more pics I didn't know if these were good enough tbh just rushed to get em up
looks pretty good, it would be worth popping a port map up if you can, someone like minor confusion can then see what extent it's been modified to. worth giving it a go and seeing how much difference in power it produces.
hi guys bin post searching and realised i need to measure the port map might sound stupid but what do i measure do i just do top to bottom side to side ??
yeah thats a pretty good map, the crucial measurements are the width of the ports, the height of the ports and the distance the tops of them are from the top of the barrel, it's gotta be pretty precise measurements. EDIT: if you have a stock 172 kicking about its worth getting one of that too to compare to.
Thanks wobbly i knew it wasnt as easy as just putting that pic up i have done 2 more maps 1 of the barrel in question and one of a stock 172 i am not spot on with my measurements as im using my old school ruler (5 years old) its not easy being precise with whsmith tools lool  i think i need a specific tool anybody have any idea what the ports are measured with ill try and get 1 Here they are anyways please be nice guys lol i am trying but i found with scooter shack you learn like 40 new things each day lol as i was one of those guys who fort gileras could do 115 mph im slowly getting there i read about 20 posts a day just learning about tuning and how they run without this site id still be a gilera owner without a clue thanks guys  the distance from top is off as the paper was not flush with the top of the barrel soz
ye its been ported, obviously larger inlet feeds and exhaust port, internal looks alot wider at the usually narower parts (there usually more oval) get a vernier (messuring tool) from halfords/machine mart/similar and mesure to the top of the barel. or line the top of the paper up with the top of the barrel, tape in place then take a rubbing. a greasy finger works well tbh. from the messurements or "timings" i can tell you roughly what rpm and spread the engine was intended to be.
Thanks minor my dads got a vernier somewhere in the garage so just got to find it now lol. And I got it in 07 from watford it came out a y reg gilera with silver sp panels The guy said he was breaking the bike after multiple theft attempts got the eBay add here but it's missing the top pic and the seller details he was claiming 27.2bhp can't remember his name. I will get the real measurements soon just got a shot load of sorting out to do
